Wanted to give an update on the progress.  Though it’s been slow going through the holidays, we are starting to pick up momentum again despite the winter doldrums.  We were recently approved by KickStarter.com to post our project and will be accepting pledges towards Ignite Vail in the near future.

Rick Castellini (@HelpMeRick) of Castellini on Computers (HelpMeRick.com) is heading the completion of the KickStarter project to include a cool video and awesome rewards for pledging.  The hook with KickStarter.com is if the money goal is not reached, no money is received.  So hopefully our target number is easily attainable.

We have not yet secured a venue, however we have some ideas that will be checked into by Tina Long (@comfortinnvail) at Comfort Inn Vail/Beavercreek.  Any recommendations are appreciated as well!  We are hoping for a venue that has a decent sound system, ability to show powerpoint slides, can serve alcohol and food, and fit at least 100 people.

1. IGNITE: We are starting an Ignite in the area and I thought you might be interested in the details as the event unfolds. It is not limited to people in Vail. I just had to choose a central location in the area. There are already Ignites in Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, and Steamboat Springs…so I thought it prudent for our area to host this event as well.

2. BE A LEADER: If you’d like to become a member of the Ignite Vail Committee, I will send you an invite to this subgroup, just send me a quick message from here. You are not obligated until you agree on a task…so consider attending the first meeting this month.

3. HELP: We will also be looking for all kinds of sponsors if this is something that interests you as well. Not necessarily money, but other resources too!

4. ENGAGE: Ignite helps you meet new people, get exposure to new ideas, helps grow the local community…with the simple challenge: 5 minutes to teach, enlighten, or inspire — backed by 20 slides auto-advancing every 15 seconds. What would you say?

Thanks for reading and please send info to your connections in the area!

There are many jobs that need doing to produce an Ignite. One person can do them all (though it’s a lot of work), but it’s easier, and more fun, if more people are involved.

Here are some of the jobs that need to be done:

  • Venue liaison
  • Ignite talk coordinator
  • Ignite talk MC
  • Ignite Contest coordinator
  • Ignite Contest MC
  • Videographer
  • Onsite Help–set up, hand out badges and drink tickets, clean up

If you’d like to get involved whether it’s with your time or if your business would like to be a sponsor.  Please email ignitevail@gmail.com or call Jodi at 970-235-1107.
